Lingala is a language of the DRC spoken by over 4 million people in Widespread in Bas-Uele, Equateur, Haut-Uele, Kinshasa, Mai-Ndombe, Mongala, Nord-Ubangi, Orientale, Sud-Ubangi, and Tshopo provinces. Lingala is a statutory language for some of these regions.
Outside of the DRC, Lingala is also spoken in Angola, the Republic of Congo, Uganda, the CAR, Rwanda and Burundi.
The Lingala Bible was published in 2000.
